It’s where I found comfort, joy, confidence; where I grew in reverence, sacrifice, patience; where I laid down doubt, anxiety, vanity. It came to truly be (as it has always been known to be) heaven on earth. Now, by the grace of God, I get the opportunity to participate in this beautiful sacrament, this first love of mine, all the more fully, deeply, lovingly through the unforeseen gift of wedding photography. And it’s this outpouring of grace that I am indebted to that has come to shape my business.
Hello and welcome! I’m Amanda and I’m a Virginia-based, Catholic wedding photographer. What began as the zeal of a convert to serve the Lord through her love and reverence for the Mass slowly developed into this little-engine-that-could business. Captivated and surrounded by the beauty of the TLM and the goodness of the Dominican friars that roamed my home parish, the hidden cry of my heart early on was to simply (and maybe naively) photograph the Mass for a living. For me, it was in the sacrament that I was home.
Dulcis Gratia was born from a continual search for beauty and a desire to receive grace wherever it is offered.
Inspired by St. Francis de Sales and his reminder that “grace is never wanting,” Dulcis Gratia reflects that truth: grace is abundant, continuous, and freely given.
It’s what I strive to live out with every couple I serve, every family I meet, every wedding I am so lucky to be a witness to in this life.
Whether it’s in the everyday or in the once-in-a-lifetime, my outlook remains the same: there is great joy to be found in letting go and living by grace.
When not behind the camera, you can find me enjoying a classic book, baking an unexplored dessert, painting a new landscape, going on a walk, or making simple rosaries (always a labor of love!). We were made to participate in creation, and one of the greatest gifts has been encountering the Lord through these small acts of making.
I believe one of the best ways to get to know a person is by seeing them through the creative work that moves them. For me, that would mean the simple pleasures found in watching Good Will Hunting (it's a birthday tradition!), collecting old and new photographs in boxes by the dozen, reading a Graham Greene novel, or listening to the vulnerable lines of a Dermot Kennedy song.
Like most, films, books, and music speak to my heart in continually profound and surprising ways, always offering a chance for encounter and a new light by which to see the world. I could talk for days about the brilliance of Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo, the heart-wrenching beauty of Loach's The Wind That Shakes the Barley, the thrill of Miller's Moneyball, or the tragedy of Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities. Beauty abounds, and what a grace it is to encounter it again and again.

I hope to give you the space to laugh, to rejoice, and to fully receive the gift of your wedding day. The hope is always to preserve the beauty of your day as it is truly lived—creating imagery that carries in it the joy and grace of this sacred beginning for years to come.
If you're looking for a wedding photographer who cares about the sacrament above the certificate, who would rather document the reality of the day than stage the perfect portfolio, who desires to decrease so that He may increase, then you're right at home.
